SNAP/EBT, Fresh Connect, and Double Up Food Bucks Programs

Your SNAP benefits (also known as EBT or Food Stamps), Fresh Connect Check and Double Up Food Bucks are welcome at 9 different market locations in Sullivan County (See the “Find a Market” page).

Read below to see how using your SNAP/EBT can also get you additional currencies to use at the market through the Fresh Connect and Double Up Food Bucks programs.

SNAP/EBT

How it Works:

When at the market, find the Market Manager tent. The market manager then swipes your SNAP/EBT card for the amount you request. The market manager then gives you tokens to spend at the market for that amount.

Tokens usually come in $1 or $5 amounts. Use your tokens with eligible vendors with signs that say “We Accept EBT Here.”

Tokens do not expire so if you have any left over come back another day to buy more farmers market products.

What You CAN Buy at the Market...

With Your Tokens:

  • Fruits & Vegetables
  • Plants that Grow Food (many are surprised to know this!)
  • Breads
  • Meat, Fish, Poultry
  • Dairy Products
  • Maple & Honey Products
  • Seeds & Plants that Produce Foods
  • Baked Goods: Wrapped, Labeled & Intended for Home Consumption
  • Jams, Sauces, Soups, etc.

What You CAN NOT Buy at the Market...

With Your Tokens:

  • Beer, Wine, or Liquor
  • Tobacco Products
  • Nonfood Items
  • Food Meant to be Eaten On-Site
  • Hot Foods
  • Vitamins & Medicines
